My year-end to do list

// December 18th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Random

There are a lot of things I would like to accomplish but my busy busy schedule always keep me from doing so. This end of the year, I’m going to get a couple weeks of vacation time. Instead of just lounging around in the house or going all travel excited, I decided to make these weeks super productive. Here’s my to do list that hopefully I can accomplish before the year ends:

  • Revamp my blog – My blog has started to become this thing that even I don’t visit very often. I have decided to make my blog more like a portfolio instead of being just a repository of whatever I feel like writing or posting. I’ll look for an awesome Wordpress template I can use and go from there.
  • Clean and organize my laptop hard drive – Whenever I copy or save files to my laptop, I tend not to care about any naming conventions or file organization scheme. This is a bad habit and I’m planning to undo a year’s worth of damage. This should be a pretty simple thing to do… I just have to go through all my files, create some kind of organization scheme and archive old files to an external hard drive. I have to remember to maintain this filing scheme as well. Whew.
  • Backup my old PCs – I’ve got loads of precious files in my old PCs. I know, I should have backed these up before placing these CPUs in storage. I’m going to have to get these out of storage, hope they turn on, and get all my files.
  • Layout photos from South Korea trip and have photo book printed – I want to give a photo book with pics from our Korea trip to my parents. This won’t be done in time for Christmas (printing takes 2 weeks according to the vendor) but at least I hope I could give it to them by January.
  • Clean my room – 4 is a bad number so I’m adding this last bullet for good measure. My room is a bit messy right now so I’m planning to give it a good clean-up this December.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Simple things that make me feel good

// June 10th, 2009 // No Comments » // Random

This is not by any means a complete and definitive list. I was just in the middle of a long car ride on the way home and started thinking of the stuff that make me feel good (like really warm and fuzzy you know what I mean). I don’t want to forget stuff like that so I’m writing it down…

  1. Listening to a song for the first time and loving it
  2. The first day of a long holiday
  3. Going home on Friday after a tiring week
  4. A pile of unread books
  5. A pile of unread manga
  6. Waking up earlier than I’m supposed to and lying in bed to pass the time

I’m sure there are a lot more, I just can’t think of them right now. ^.^

5 Things I’m bringing on our flight to South Korea

// April 8th, 2009 // No Comments » // Random

After countless days of anticipation, our trip to Korea is finally just a (probably sleepless) night away! Right now, I’m taking a rest from packing my stuff for the trip to write this quick post. I was kinda at a loss on what clothes to bring since I don’t really know how cold (or warm) it’ll be when we get there. But to be safe I packed a lot of stuff that I could layer or wear as separates.

Anyway I’m really excited about this trip but one thing I’m not excited about is the long flight. I hate being cramped up in a plane for hours on end. If you ask me, time is slowest inside a plane… the minutes literally just crawl by. Don’t get me wrong, I have no plane phobias or unreasonable fears about flying or anything. In fact, I think I’m the only person besides my sister who loves airplane food (that part I’m looking forward to). However, I’ll be staying in coach (as if I can afford anything classier than that) so that would mean backaches, leg aches and just general discomfort.

I don’t think I’d be able to sleep since this is a day flight, so to make the plane ride more bearable I have this list of stuff to bring:

  • iPod Touch loaded with music and videos - This is my trusty standby for those long boring things I have to endure.
  • Nice and snug earbuds – I hate noisy kids and babies on planes. The Sennheiser earbuds I borrowed from my boyfriend (it’s not gross to borrow earbuds from a boyfriend) should do the trick to keep those annoying noises out of my head.
  • Ouran High Host Club Volume 10 – I’m bringing volume 10 with me on the plane while volumes 11 and 12 will be in my check-in luggage. A trip abroad is always a great time to catch up on my reading (hahaha).
  • Laptop - The precious 2 hours of battery life could be time well spent for games or watching a good movie (not those movies that you’re forced to watch on the plane).
  • PSP or DS - I don’t have either but if I did I’d definitely bring those along with me
  • A notebook and a pen – Who knows? I might suddenly get the inspiration to write something.

That’s actually 6 things but since I don’t have the PSP or DS that brings it down to 5. I guess that’s it. I’ll get back to packing now. :-)

5 Days in South Korea

// April 6th, 2009 // No Comments » // Random

In two days, my family and I will be heading off to South Korea for the lenten holidays and I literally can’t wait! I haven’t been to Korea yet so it’ll be great exploring a new place with a different language and culture. Check out our itinerary:

  1. Day 1: MANILA/INCHEON

    Upon arrival at the airport, meet guide and proceed to local restaurant for dinner then transfer to hotel for check-in.

  2. Day 2: INCHEON/EVERLAND/STRAWBERRY FARM

    After breakfast at hotel, proceed to Everland Theme Park w/ passport ticket (Korea’s best theme park and 4th best in the world) consisting of Safari World, daily events and shows and also 40 other latest attractions. Then next stop would be a visit to Strawberry Farm where you can experience strawberry picking and taste some afterwards. Experience Kimchi Making and Hanbok wearing before transfer to Mt. Seorak for check-in.

  3. Day 3: MT. SEORAK/NAMI ISLAND/SEOUL

    After breakfast at resort, visit Shioheungsa Temple with Grand Bronze Buddha and Gwongennseong Fortress by cable car. Transfer to Nami Island (Winter Sonata shooting place) by ferry. Transfer back to Seoul for check-in.

  4. Day 4: DAEJANGGEUM/JUMP/COEX AQUARIUM

    After breakfast at hotel visit Daejanggeum Theme Park (Jewel in the Palace shooting place). Return to Seoul and enjoy Jump Performance (a new Korean hit show that will bring fun to everyone). Then visit Ginseng COEX Aquarium and be fascinated with the number marine species we have. Then spend the rest of your day at the underground shopping mall of COEX with lots of different things to choose from.

  5. Day 5: SEOUL CITY TOUR/DEPARTURE

    After breakfast at hotel, proceed to Seoul City Tour which include visits to the Kyungbok Palace, National Folklore Museum, pass by the Presidential Blue House, Amethyst Factory, pass by Vimjunoro Cherry Blossom Street, free time shopping at Myeongdong Street with a visit to Myeongdong Cathedral. Transfer to Incheon Airport for departure via Korean Food and Souvenir Shop.

I’m really really excited about this trip. I know that with barely 5 days, we won’t be able to even scratch the surface of South Korea but it’ll be a start. I’m not even sure about the spelling of half the places because my copy of the faxed itinerary is really really bad. Nevertheless, it sure looks like an activity-packed and exciting vacation to me. :-)

Starting fresh

// March 15th, 2009 // No Comments » // Random

I’ve created my fair share of blogs and websites since my fascination with the internet started several years ago. However, none of these seem to last very long. I’ve had a website that lasted around two years and a blog that lasted a little under that and that’s it. All my other “projects” lasted just a couple of months, after which I would either lose interest or forget about it.

After all those false starts, I’ve decided to start fresh once more and hope that this time, I can keep this running for years to come. What makes this blog different from all the others I’ve started in the past? Well, all my past blogs were about certain topics I was interested in — gadgets, manga, interior design, etc. This time, I have no particular topic in mind. I’ll post whatever interests me whenever I’m in the mood to write. No pressure. Wish me luck!
